Hi Tracy - Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I was travelling on business.I did as you suggested. Clicked on the C:windowssystem32 folder and went to Properties and clicked on the security tab. Aagha, got a lot of questions here, but first, in addition to Arnav's advice, how 'bout providing more info:what kind of environment you operatin' in?

  1. Are you sure you are in a Elevated Command Prompt? The title bar must say Administrator: Command Prompt If it just says Command Prompt, or C: Windows System32 cmd.exe, you will get the Access Denied message. The title bar must start with Administrator.
  2. Jan 13, 2012  So I am wondering if there is a command built into Windows Vista and Windows 7 that will bring up a window asking the user if they want to elevate the cmd to the level of the current user's rights. And then he had the exact same results as the other Windows Vista/7 users. It just says that access is denied, and will only run when you 'Run.

Oct 27, 2009  Command prompt access denied I'm having a problem running commands in cmd.exe on Windows 7 Professional x64. Even when I select Run as Administrator when launching cmd.exe, many commands such as chkdsk, ping, tracert, net user, etc. Are just responding with Access is Denied.

This your personal 'puter? A networked at work computer.what?you just get this comp?got anything to lose by 'wipin' the slate and starting over?how long has this been going on?who IS the 'TrustedInstaller'? Get with them and have them fix the problemStatement/observation: You're definitely not the adminJust need a tad more detail here aagha.thankshoratio. Hi. This is my personal computer.

It's networked-hard-wired, into my wireless router. I've had this computer for over 4 years, and commands like 'ipconfig' used to work in the past. Yes, wiping and starting over would take days, if not weeks, to recover. I'm not sure how long this has been going on. I know all commands from dos used to work, but when I tried ipconfig a few weeks ago, it didn't-and I started getting the access denied.

When it all started is unclear. I tried disabling firewallsand virus checkers, but to no avail. TrustedInstaller is a Windows process of Windows Modules Installer. Thanks for your help. Hi Tracy - Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I was travelling on business.I did as you suggested. Clicked on the C:windowssystem32 folder and went to Properties and clicked on the security tab. It's interesting.

When I go to the C: drive and click on Properties and go to the Security tab, the only Group or user names listed there are:. Authenticated Users.

SYSTEM. Administrators (SunTzuAdministrators). Users (SunTzuUsers)Trusted Installer doesn't show up!Permissions for each of the above are as follows:. Authenticated Users: Special Permissions. SYSTEM: Full control, modify, Read & execute, List folder contents, Read, Write.
